ABSTRACT
Enhancement of heat transfer rate can be improved by increasing fluid mixing or turbulence. To induce turbulence, this research used corrugated zinc. This experiment was done by comparing two collectors using different absorbers to know the effect of using corrugated-zinc attached a transverse of flow on heat transfer rate and performance of collector. The experiment was done by flowing air into the collector forcibly by using a fan with a voltage variation of 7.5, 9, and 15 for collector using absorber of non-transverse and transverse corrugated. Data were taken by measuring speed of air flow, inlet and outlet temperature of the channel, and plate temperature after air flow into collector attached to thermocouple at some position. The result of research shows enhancement of heat transfer rate and performance at collector using absorber transverse corrugated at all variations of speed air flow because there was turbulence. The quickly the airstream, the stronger the turbulence. Similarly, the higher the acceleration, the higher the collector performance.
