ABSTRACT

Carbide chrome precipitation in stainless steel can cause intergranular corrosion. Carbide chrome precipitation that happened in Austenitic stainless steel could be detected by giving heat input beyond to sensitizes temperature. This research studied about the influence of the differen heat input to degree of carbide chrome precipitation in Austenitic stainless steel types of 304, 316L, 317L and 321. Carbide chrome precipitation area that happened is shown by “scale” like a ring. The width of carbide chrome precipitation area is measured by using projector profile. The results of the research show that degree of carbide chrome precipitation in Austenitic stainless steel types of 304, 316L, 317L and 321 are increasing equal with increasing of heat input that have given to specimens. Also the carbide chrome precipitation phenomenon in Austenitic stainless steel with different kind of types have same trend gradient.
