ABSTRACT: Some earthquakes in Indonesia since 2004, has caused very large casualties and material losses. To anticipates the same losses in the future, it needs to improve the communities ability to build the structure to withstand earthquakes,especially if it made by reinforced concrete material. The purpose of this study were (1) generate a model to enhance the power structure through the transformation of detailed struts that make up the component structure of reinforced concrete in accordance with the pattern of loading which may occur due to the earthquake, (2) Testing the behavior of structural system according to the specified model, to determine suitability of the method arranging the relationship beam-columns or relationships between elements of the structure to prevent the failure of the system on the structure of buildings to withstand earthquakes. A study was conducted on a model concrete blocks and portals concrete. Concrete block object test consists of 3 models, the model concrete blocks with a rectangular ties, slope ties, and continuous slope ties. Portals object test is a combination of the 3 models concrete blocks with 3 models columns struts, ie columns with (1) circle and rectangular struts; (2) rectangular and crosses struts, and (3) rectangular and parallelogram struts . The results of testing in this study can be concluded matters as follows: (1) Pattern of cracks on the body test beam showed that the collapse is happening is a collapse shear. While the object test portals reinforced concrete collapse happened was the collapse bending; (2) The relationship between load P and deflection of the portal satisfies the equation: (a) columns with circle struts: y =- 1.155 x2 +88.02 x-2, 514; (b) column with cross struts: y =-0.737x2 + 74.03x + 48.18; (c) column with parallelogram struts: y =-0.977x2 + 89.94x - 69.34. (3) The relationship between load P and the deflection of the portal satisfies the equation: (a) rectangular ties: y =-1.177x2 + 92.12x - 29.21; (b) slope ties: y =-1.026x2 + 85.67x - 31.41; ( c) continuous slope ties: y =-0.797x2 + 77.62x + 25.28. From the study concluded that the detailed pattern struts on the portals of the pattern of cross struts in the column with the pattern of continuous slope ties in the block is a detailed pattern which enable to provide better performance in the earthquake situation.
