ABSTRACT: Performance of auxiliary converter system or static inverter on electric railcar has most determined the performance of electric railcar in operation entirely, particularly in the performance of compressor system and VVVF (variable voltage variable frequency) inverter system. Auxiliary converter system supply power into compressor, ventilation, lamps and indicators, door control, loudspeaker system, supply into brake installation, brake control, and so on. Failure and damage on auxiliary converter system cause electric railcar stopped to operate. Therefore, deeply understanding about technical and fungsional descriptions of auxiliary converter system for electric railcar are need to find out the degree of performance for each electric railcar, mainly to support operational of the electric railcar as a whole.
