ABSTRACT

In order to solve the problem of liability and big shrink-swell of the soil we must to improve performance of the soil by modified the behaviour of soil. The improvement is by mixing the ash of sugar-reed waste with the soil. Ash of sugar-reed waste is the waste of industry that useless again. By using the ash of sugar-reed waste as the mixed material of the chemical soil stabilization and it’s hoped can increase the bearing capacity of the soil. In this research, we use various compositions: 3%, 5%, 7%, and 11%; and various time of cooing during 0, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days. After we mix and coo them, so we try to find the specific gravity, water moisture content, density, optimum water content of soil. From the result of research and computation, so the conclusion is the ash of sugar reed waste can use as chemical stabilization of soil at composition 7%.
