ABSTRACT: Bamboo, wood, or another natural fiber as reinforced material on foundation application was not intensive research. Using Bamboo or another natural fiber needs to be research further for application. Those materials, especially bamboo was available everywhere. If those materials optimaly used, it can save more for the budget. This research was developed to determine the influences of placement skin bamboo woven as reinforcement below plate foundation related to incremental bearing capacity on loose sand. On this research the settelement of loaded foundation model will compared between two condition, with skin bamboo reinforcement and not.The previous research by Kumar and Walia (2006), Kumar and Saran S., (2004), C.R. Patra, B.M. Das, and C. Atala, (2005), H.A. Alawaji, (2001) using more in geosynthetic matter (geotextile and geogrid), steel plate or un-natural fiber as reinforcement material. The previous research more on strip continuous foundation, not in foot plate foundation.
The dimension of skin bamboo (Gigantohla Apus Kurs) woven uses is square 150,0 x 150,0 mm and 200,0 x 200,0 mm. Durability and realibilty of submerged bamboo is avoided. The foundation models are made by steel plate, round 100,0 mm diameter and square 100,0 mm on its side. The thickness plate models is 12,0 mm with stagging pipe 3” diameters 150,0 mm height. This research is field model test on moist and saturated loose sand. The loading test mode is static load test. Interval record time was taken 1, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60, 120, 240, 480, 900 and 1800 seconds. The configuration of skin bamboo reinforcement is installed on distance 0.0 D, 0.5 D, and 1.0 D (D = Foundation Diameter) below foundation. The data will collect and grouped based on soil condition placement of reinforcement below foundation. Using variant analysis, it will determine reduction of settlement and incremental of bearing capacity of shallow foundation models.The resultss from this research are 1) The most optimum placement of skin bamboo woven as reinforcement is on the below of foundation (D = 0). 2) The incremental bearing capacity could reach is + 130,0 % (moist) and 19,9 % – 41,03 % (saturated). 3) The reduction settlement is 9,21 – 20,15% (moist) dan 11,23 – 26,55 % (saturated).
