ABSTRACT

The South Coastal Region in Sub-Province of Jember has potential as a natural beach tourism object. In one hand, along with the developments of this coastal region gives income for regional goverment earnings, but in other hand, if this developments do not pay attention to the ecological continuity, socio-cultural condition of the surrounding community, and also physical condition of this area, then this activities will destroy the environment of this coastal region.. The environmental condition of coastal region in sub-province of Jember with its varying resources support for its development as tourism object because its location is alongside South coastal region. The relations between one object with the other objects need a linkage, with the result that the tourists can enjoy the trip in several places within getting visual experiences. The research is an effort to develop the potentials of coastal region, especially the potential as natural beach which equipped by supporting facilities and as tourism object, but still maintaining natural and cultural conservation. This research is also performed by using ecological approach to determined variables, so that, its development efforts are able to be flexible measuring rod for the South coastal region planning. The final result of this thesis research is in the form of development concept for the South coastal region in sub-province of Jember by emphasizing the linkage system among the objects inwrought and still maintaining natural and cultural conservation.
